ERA - Excellence in Research Australia

The Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative has placed heavy demands on the resources of the Research Office. ERA will assess research quality within Australia's higher education institutions using a combination of indicators and expert review by committees comprising experienced, internationally-recognised experts. ERA will use leading researchers to evaluate research in eight discipline clusters. This year is the trial phase of ERA and is only evaluating two of the planned eight clusters, with the full ERA process planned for 2010.

Having successfully aided and supported clients through the PCE round, we are ready for the HCA submission round which opens August 3rd. When planning a solution to support our clients through ERA, ResearchMaster chose an implementation option that allowed us to react rapidly to changing requirements from the ARC, and get those changes out to our clients as quickly as possible. Furthermore, this flexible solution puts us in an ideal position to incorporate the ARCs final requirements for the full ERA process in 2010.

ResearchMaster's solution assists in the collection and review of the data, allowing you to fill the gaps, validate the information as you go, and with one click, generate an XML file for submission.

For effective performance monitoring RME’s ERA Assist enables you to:
  • Generate ERA profiles for your eligible researchers
  • Prepare your research outputs for ERA
  • Import the ARC journals list and match them against your existing journals
  • Upload your research income
  • Generate the XML file required for ERA submission
  • Create a report, highlighting any issues with the data
  • Extract our list of indexed journals to be sent to Scopus and then import the Scopus IDs
  • Provides an easy way to convert RFCDs to FORs and update the SEOs

"The RME ERA Assist module was essential in my preparation of our university's ERA submission. Not only did RME ERA Assist streamline the identification of eligible outputs, its ability to automatically generate an XML file saved considerable time and resources. I would not have been able to prepare our University's submission without it."
