Training ServicesRMPL is committed to the transfer of technical skills to our clients. We are focussed not only on the provision of training to end users, but also to those that will support the technical aspects of the solution, and be involved in the ongoing maintenance and upgrades for the solution. We assist in this process by:
A number of standard training packages are available:
Involves installation and administrative task defining, onsite training in the many elements
of the administration of the ResearchMaster system. This includes security setup, parameter
setting, customisation for local naming conventions, custom list setting, automatic email
setup, category and grouping initialisation and a variety of other central management training
components. In essence, this training allows local functionality administrators (defined below)
to understand how the flexibility of the ResearchMaster system is attained and how to utilise
it for their own organisation. This is a compulsory option for new sites.
Allows ResearchMaster staff to gain an understanding of the client's research administration
environment in terms of the organisations policies, work practices and key requirements for
the major stakeholders in the implementation. This in turn is used to give a more focussed
training approach for the various personnel which generally has a direct benefit in terms of
utilisation of the system.
Allows clients to learn from ResearchMaster staff's experience in the various elements of
training of the ResearchMaster solution. It includes descriptions of real world experiences
describing the types of stakeholders and the elements in the software that they consider are
important as well as the best methods of educating about the system. Optionally, it can
provide certification for clients to be able to provide their own Induction Packages for the
various members of their university community.
Provides the clients technical staff with information about the ResearchMaster database, the
data dictionary, the relationships between tables, ResearchMaster database optimisation as
well as advice and tips for enhancements and limitations in various environments.
Involves all of the above items plus some standard consulting packages, as well as various
RMPL staff providing hands on assistance during all phases of the implementation process.
Allows various levels of users of the system to be trained in the specific technology software
and gain an understanding of how and why the software is used. It provides certification that
the user has reached a specific level of capability with the software and an understanding of
its usage.
Post Implementation Packages Many software sites do not develop an ongoing post-implementation strategic plan (like a software 'business plan') when looking at an implementation. As such, once the training and installation has been completed, people allow the implementation to run it's course. Sometimes this can work well, while at other times, the software fails to reach it's potential. The Post-Implementation packages deliver to clients a series of reviews and reports that can confirm that the implementation is progressing well and at maximum productivity. The objective quite simply is to supply an impartial assessment and information resource to (a) ensure that the site is running at its optimal capability and (b) to deliver written advice and recommendations as to how the site can improve from it's current functionality and utilisation.
Provides RMPL technical staff working with the clients technical staff to look at the
ResearchMaster implementation and ensure that it is running at maximum efficiency. It also
allows the technical staff to ask questions onsite and improve their skills in the management
of the ResearchMaster database.
Involves ResearchMaster training staff working with the client to ensure that the functionality
of the ResearchMaster system is being utilised and to provide assistance and recommendations as
to how that can be enhanced.
Involves utilisation of both of the above packages along with a discussion of future directions
of the ResearchMaster software to assist clients in their planning and approach in the future.
RMPL technical and functionality staff would come onsite with the client and provide information
and recommendations to enhance an implementation of the ResearchMaster software. If a site does
not have an ongoing strategic development plan for their implementation, their system may not be
utilised to it's fullest extent. Sometimes, this is not a matter of spending money but rather
having an implementation assessment report that highlights where productivity gains can be made
without additional purchases. This package combines both the technical and the functionality side
of the software and assists by providing detailed, objective advice on the way forward.
